NPL Release – The National Pickleball League has announced a brand new format for NPL  Season 1 – named NPLeague™ – a format exclusive to the National Pickleball League.

NPLeague™ aims to showcase the best professional Pickleball players in Australia by combining the best aspects of the singles & doubles disciplines in Pickleball.

In the new format, NPL teams will consist of 6 players – 3 males and 3 females, who will all be required to play in each match.  Each match will consist of 4 sets + 1 potential tiebreaker – known as the Dill Breaker™. Each set is worth 1 point individually.

  • 1st Set = Female Singles
    • Best of 3 Games – 3 Individual Players
    • First to 11, Traditional Pickleball Scoring, Win by 2 
  • 2nd Set = Mixed Doubles Pair #1
    • Best of 1 Game – 1 Mixed Pair
    • First to 21, Rally Pickleball Scoring, Win by 2
  • 3rd Set = Male Singles
    • Same format as Female singles
  • 4th Set = Mixed Doubles Pair #2
    • Same format as Mixed Doubles #1
  • Dill Breaker™ (as required)
    • First to 21 (as a team)

The NPL believes that the highest professional level of the sport must showcase both the athleticism & highlight plays of Singles, with the strategy & precision of Doubles. NPLeague™ allows for the best players in the country to showcase the full range of their Pickleball skills.
